(April 16, 2010) This morning, founder of One Foundation, Mr. Jet Li and the team members of the foundation’s Rescue League already arrived in the Yushu district of Qinghai. At present they have arrived at Jiegu Town and have set up a materials hub for One Foundation's relief materials at a key junction in the town. The first batch of relief materials also arrived today and is currently being distributed through the help of local government and volunteers, in turn reaching the experts and relief work in the disaster area.

Yesterday evening after 9pm, 10 rescue vehicles for One Foundation’s Rescue League left for the Jiegu Town of Yushu, followed by another 7 vehicles full of the first batch of relief materials including water, cookies and juice. Today, the second batch of relief materials has already been dispatched including small medical kits, blankets and water. Gradually, there will be more relief materials arriving at the Xining Relief Materials Coordination Centre.

From the tense work at the front line of the disaster it is understood that the national rescue forces and transport of supplies have made rapid headway. The rescue supplies provided to the Yushu disaster area has raised hope that the situation will gradually ease over two days. One Foundation decided that as well as taking an active role in the onsite rescue work, they will simultaneously focus on aiding long term post disaster reconstruction.

Following their experience in taking part in the post-disaster reconstruction in Sichuan, One Foundation has on the one hand appealed to the public through media and widespread partnership channels to donate to the Yushu post disaster special fund. Such online channels as Yeepay.com and Baifubao have cooperated with One Foundation to open the ways for dedicated fundraising. Other conventional channels such as China Merchants Bank, PayPal and Tenpay are also open to the majority of families to donate funds towards One Foundation. On the other hand, One Foundation has actively started long term post-disaster reconstruction program.  They have linked up with many post-disaster non-profit reconstruction organisations and drawn closer to professional and experienced public charities.

The Yushu post quake construction work is to be carried out in 3 stages. Stage 1 is to help reconstruct housing and schools, and restore normal life and the education system as quickly as possible. Stage 2 is a project to restore mental and physical health by organising professionals who have experience in the 512 earthquakes. This involves giving post disaster psychological treatment in children’s homes and through psychological sand games. In addition, this stage will help treat those who have been rendered disabled by the earthquake, especially children. Stage 3 is to do with education and supporting the poor whereby help will be provided to empower the disaster area to help itself through establishing production and improving living and education conditions.
