On January 12th, 2010, the M7.0 earthquake at Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, affected nearly one-third of the Haitian population and resulted in more than 100,000 deaths. A number of professional rescue and medical teams from US, UK, Germany, Belgium, France, Netherland, Switzerland and Russia have arrived in Haiti, while China International Rescue Team has started its efforts with necessary equipments and supplies. Looking back to the earthquake in 2008, our people in Sichuan suffered great loss and damages, yet also received substantial aid and support from all over the world. Today, the Haitian people are suffering from the same disaster similar to what happened two years ago, and it is time for us to give our hands. China Red Cross and Red Crescent Foundations have released an urgent donation call. One Foundation contributed USD 100,000 to Haiti via China Red Cross Foundation, and One Foundation Rescue League, a national rescue organization with dozens of members, also contacted international disaster mitigation and aid organizations and planned to participate in the international rescue program. Our rescue team is now preparing necessary equipments and supplies, and is ready to depart at any time. However, there are media reports that One Foundation Rescue League is calling for volunteers to engage in the rescue activities in Haiti, which is misinformation. One Foundation Rescue League has its own professional team members with professional training and experience in Wenchuan Earthquake and other operations. We hereby declare that we do not and will not recruit temporary rescue volunteers from the public. If you are interested in charity and rescue, please follow up the updates on our website. |
