The 2010 Philanthropy Grants has started receiving application since May 13th. Interested NGOs may visit here for more information. Submission will be closed on May 30th.

The Philanthropy Grants is one of the key projects carried out by One Foundation to promote standardization and industrialization of philanthropy in China. The first grants started in 2008. The event selects winners every year. On the basis of Credibility, Professionalism, Execution and Sustainability, One Foundation will select no more than ten “Philanthropy Stars” which are Non-Profit-Organizations that have well-established management and supervision structure, excellent operational capabilities, transparent financial system, outstanding sustainability and wide social impact. These star organizations will be given a support grant of RMB 1 million each. In 2009, One Foundation added “Future Philanthropy Stars”under the philanthropy grants.

Compared with the previous two Grants, this year’s event highlights a subtler selection rules and additional grants to encourage NGOs’ creativity and reachability. Apart from that, the 2010 Grants introduce financial transparency and the efficiency of fund allocation as key criteria in assessment. “Creativity Stars” and “Reachability Stars” are now added to the “Future Philanthropy Stars” category.

One Foundation Philanthropy Grants adopts the evaluation methods of application submission, telephone interview, reference check, on-site investigation, internet voting, judge interview and oral defense. After application and recommendation, candidates will go through preliminary, secondary and final evaluation. The foundation’s website will fully disclose the profiles of judges, who come from media, NGOs, consulting and legal businesses. The whole process is transparent and the final results will be announced in November 2010.
