On site of 1st Jingshi Philanthropic Forum

        Hosted by Beijing Normal University One Foundation Philanthropy Research Institute, the 1st 1st Jingshi Philanthropic Forum was held in Beijing on November 6.

        The topic for this time’s forum is publicizing and professionalizing the philanthropic education. Leading experts of philanthropy industry from home and abroad, well-known philanthropists, media people discussed extensively on the challenges of training professionals for philanthropy industry, and on position and cooperation of philanthropic organizations and other parties. Based on the research on The Current Situation and Outlook for China’s Philanthropic Education done by BNU One Foundation Philanthropy Research Institute during the past 4 months since its establishment, the attendees also compared the international situation of philanthropic education with the Chinese practice, and proposed to establish the Chinese philanthropic education system with international view by localizing the international practice.

        By discussions and negotiations, attendees reached below initial agreements:

        Underdeveloped philanthropic ideals in China has become the bottle-neck for the development of China’s philanthropy cause;

        The development of China’s philanthropy cause has come to the point when philanthropic education should be provided to the general public;

        China’s philanthropic education needs leapfrog development to meet the goal of pushing forward the faster development of philanthropy cause;

        China’s philanthropic education must be people-oriented, respecting common people’s hope and demand.

        Since its establishment in late June this year, BNU One Foundation Philanthropy Research Institute has conducted several trials in the philanthropic culture exchange and innovation. The launches of Jingshi Philanthropic Forum and Jingshi Philanthropy Seminar Series are both the Institute’s move to disseminate the philanthropic culture. The Institute aims to create a platform through these trials, for the general public and the academics to have philanthropic exchange, by which the academic research results can be utilized, the advanced philanthropic ideals can be advocated, successful philanthropic practice model can be promoted, and a benign and sustainable philanthropic environment can be created.

        On the sidelines of the 1st Jingshi Philanthropic Forum, the Institute invited former British Prime Minister Tony Blaire to the Jingshi Philanthropy Seminar Series, and hosted high-level dialogue on topics as training of philanthropic leaders.
