From June 30, there has been widespread heavy rainfall in southern China, causing severe flood in some areas. One Foundation quickly allocated RMB 200,000 to purchase emergency relief material to help the people affected by the flood.

        Disaster relief has always been an important area that One Foundation is fully dedicated to. After the flood took place, One Foundation staff immediately questioned local civil affairs departments and Red Cross chapters about the situation, and sent Nanning Oasis Rescue Team - member of One Foundation Rescue League for an on-site survey. From the feedback of different sources, One Foundation learned that Liuzhou, Guangxi was one of the areas worst-hit by the flood, and decided to set up the donation reception point there for this relief operation.

        It was learned from the region that the local people were living at high places for the moment to avoid the flood, who could not return to their villages and material assistance was badly needed. One Foundation immediately contacted Master Kong Holdings Ltd., Ting Hsin International Group and purchased relief material worth about RMB 200,000 at cost price, including 30,000 bottles of drinking water, 30,000 servings of instant noodle and 30,000 bags of biscuit, to supply the 3,000 local residents who were facing urgent food safety problems. One Foundation Rescue League would ship these to worst-hit areas of Liuzhou at the earliest time possible.

        This donation of RMB 200,000 was from the daily savings made by the One Family. Following the principle of “special fund for special use”, One Foundation has been proportionally reserving disaster relief fund while respecting the donor’s intention. The continuous input from One Foundation family members, no matter how small, are meticulously collected so that victims can receive care and support when they are hit by disasters.

        One Foundation calls for more to join our family and provide more assistance to the suffering regions and people. One Foundation will keep its attention on the development of the disaster region and do its best to help the local people.

Continuous Disaster Relief Operation of One Foundation

Disaster relief has always been a focus of One Foundation. Since its establishment in April 2007, One Foundation has provided immediate assistance for Pu’er earthquake in Yunnan, snowstorm in southern China in 2008, Shandong flood, Wenchuan earthquake and many other natural disasters. Its help also extended beyond China. As the first Chinese NGO responding to the disasters, it provided fund and material for the Myanmar hurricane and Italian earthquake.

One Foundation immediately responded to the disasters and provided emergent material assistance to save life. In addition, it also integrated multiple resources for active, long-term reconstruction after major disasters. Due to its prominent achievements in the charitable cause, especially the significant performance during Wenchuan earthquake, One Foundation received “China Charity Award” issued by China Civil Affairs Ministry at the end of 2008.
