One Foundation Work Report (2007.4.19 - 2007.7.18)

On April 19th, 2007, Red Cross Society of China Jet Li One Foundation Project launced formally in Beijing, garnering support amongst the public. As a charitable concept, “1 +1+1=1” by the Jet Li One Foundation Project means that each person donates one yuan per month to help his or her brothers and sisters, widening cooperation amongst the greater society.         

All donations to the Jet Li One Foundation Project is credited directly to the account of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) and distributed by them. One Foundation is in charge of supervising the expense and implemention of the funds. Open and transparent, Jet Li One Foundation Project is to publicize its one work, donations, and spending on a quarterly basis, ensuring public oversight.

It has been exactly three months from the launch of Jet Li One Foundation Project, beginning on July 19th. The quarterly report from April 19th to July 19th is as follows.           

The latest process:

1. San Miguel Corporation donated RMB 1 million and became the partner of Jet Li

One Foundation Project.

2. PAYPAL made use of its payment and gathering system on the web to supply One Foundation project an easy and safe online donation platform, which has put into practice. The overseas donation for One Foundation project can be successfully credited through this platform after logging onto the English edition of www.one-foundation.com.

3. Tencent Corporation made use of its payment and gathering system on the internet to supply a convenient and safe online donation platform (RMB). This platform will soon be put into use.

4. Over 10 of the top national athletes of China, including Liu Xiang, Shen Xue, and Zhao Hongbo joined the One Foundation as permanent volunteers. So far, the number of permanent volunteers in One Foundation has exceeded 300.

5. Jackie Chan was invited to be the Honorary Director General of One Foundation.

6. Movements of sorts are under way, which will supply more people with the opportunity to take part in the benevolent career personally. For example, the One Foundation Cup in Shanghai will be held on August 12th.

 The latest fund-raising:

Via bank and post office: RMB 5,513,266.39, of which the donation from permanent volunteers is near RMB 480,000.

Via text message (donation number: 999309). The total population reaches 350 thousand.

Via PAYPAL---- donation of foreign currency on the web: US$2277.10 from 45 individuals.

Expenses of the foundation: RMB 1,100,000

The details are as follows.

1. Aiding the Pu’Er region, Yunnan Province with RMB 100 thousand on June 4th for their rebuilding after the earthquake. The charitable fund was directly distributed to Red Cross Society of Yunnan Province and used for purchasing rice (33.33 tons), and respectively sent to Manlian Country, Ning’er Town, Ning’er County with 14.25 tons and Taida Country, Ning’er Town, Ning’er County with 18.08 tons, with a population 2222 people.

2. Allotting RMB 1 million for the special use of two projects-----“Sunshine in Your Heart Care Center program” and “Crisis Prevention Training Program”. One Foundation Project will have a hand in them and strictly supervise their implement and the expense of the funds. Afterwards, One Foundation will make a conclusion and evaluation along with the Sunshine project.

RMB 580 thousand For “Sunshine in Your Heart Care Center Program”

This program plans to build Sunshine in Your Heart Care Center in 58 universities between July, 2007 and July, 2008, including special training courses for psychological counselors; supplying with sunshine book-shelves, books and counseling handbooks; inviting domestic and overseas specialists to lecture and train counselors, students and parents; organizing volunteers to carry out one-to-one counseling among students.

RMB 420,000 For “Crisis Prevention Training Program”

This project is to strengthen the crisis-prevention ability of counselors through organizing domestic and overseas scholars to hold international seminars, experience-exchanging, teacher-training and text-editing activities, and to improve the professional competence of  crisis prevention volunteers (including staff at Red Cross Society, psychologists, social workers, doctors, nurses and first-aiding workers, etc.). This project plans to train 4800 volunteers of mental-health crisis prevention from July 2007 to July 2008.
